Dammit!

So the Republicans scramble to deliver their replacement for Obamacare but all they’re doing is cobbling together a bunch of talking points instead of creating a plan that will actually improve the delivery and payment of medical services. They have not addressed the deep rooted anti-trust issues that infect the entire system. The triad of Providers-Pharmaceuticals-Insurers will still rake in the bucks at the expense of the consumers. There is still no transparency that will enable consumers to make informed “free enterprise” choices among the various insurance policies that will be offered under the “new” health care plan.

Everyone knows that Bandolero is a strong proponent of free enterprise, and a strong opponent of government regulation. But unfettered free enterprise leaves the door open for abuse. This is because free enterprise at its roots is fueled by self-interest that easily becomes greed. Anti-trust laws make the free enterprise players responsible for abusing the liberties that make the system work. Self-regulation has rarely proven up to the challenge of keeping participants in line. Those that become more “successful” should be rewarded for their success, but not rewarded for abusing the power that success confers, particularly in regard to shutting out the less successful and disabling their ability to play on a level field. Unfortunately, there’s no oversight that can work other than oversight by government. Consequently, this is one area where Bandolero can support a role for government regulation. And, appropriate government regulation has to be a primary ingredient of any new health plan. Nobody other than government has a chance of breaking the triad’s grip over the health care industry and its ability to manipulate the system to assure that they will continue to get rich at the expense of the health care consumer.

Viva El Presidente Nuevo

You may have wondered what became of El Bandolero following his post on September 11, 2014. Other than a short missive on September 2, 2016, he seemed to have gone to ground. Well, it can now be revealed that for the past two years, Bandolero has been hard at work in furtherance of the revolution, and on this election night in America the fruit of his labors has blossomed. Yes, amigos, it is thanks to the incredible and indefatigable behind the scenes and under the radar missions carried out by El Bandolero, that Donald Trump will be sworn in as El Presidente in January.

As you know, El Bandolero long espoused that the time had come for revolution. The government was no longer of the people or for the people. Some probably thought that El Bandolero had in mind an ouster at gunpoint, but this was part of El Bandolero’s strategy of misdirection. Some may now be disappointed to learn otherwise, but the goal of revolution is change, not the method by which it is accomplished nor the figurehead at the forefront of it. Bandolero has been happy, and is now gratified by the success of his efforts, to recruit Mr. Trump to run for the office, and to work behind the scenes to bring about his election. Now, be assured that we have a president at the helm of government who knows that El Bandolero will be watching his every move.

Lo Siento Mucho Mis Caballeros

El Bandolero knows when to apologize, especially to his faithful friends, followers and troops. And now is when, or when is now. It is virtually unbelievable that nearly two years have past since Bandolero wrote “It Is Time”. That was Bandolero’s call to himself to mobilize and to fulfill not only his destiny but the hopes and dreams of those who have so long looked to him for leadership, hope, courage, inspiration and, occasionally, jelly beans. Some may laugh, but the faithful know the meaning behind the secret code “jelly beans”. Hint: A famous author once wrote a famous book about another struggle, entitled “A Farewell to Jelly Beans”. And these are not to be confused with black beans or refried beans although they, also, are code whose meaning is known to the faithful. No hint for now, though.

Be secure in the knowledge that Bandolero lives, and is more determined than ever to lead the charge in what now must be an obvious necessity to a vast majority, or at least a vast number, of citizens, not to mention immigrants and aliens. The passage of two years, and the utter failure during that time of any hope for a meaningful alternative to appear, much less an actual alternative, has further coagulated Bandolero’s message and the cause for which he stands and rides, and walks and runs. The passage of two years has seen the founding fathers spinning even more frantically in their graves as their dreams for our nation have been warped and manipulated into the nightmare that our government has become while the citizenry is misled by sound bites whose persuasiveness prevails because few care to read the details and fine print in the same fashion they click “I Agree” thousands of times a day to contracts they didn’t bother to read because they were enthralled by the instant gratification of the latest trending app.

Is it too late? Even Bandolero must admit that, yes, it might be. But that doesn’t mean we have to like it or to go down without a fight. Bandolero intends to re-earn the trust and loyalty of his followers. Just wait and see.
